We’ve all got that invite that makes it look like this is the Halloween to end all Halloween parties. You spend hours on an incredible costume, make spooky finger sandwiches, green cocktails and you show up, and it’s bunch of your friends sat around on their phones, with a couple of them wearing capes. No. Not this year! Here are some awesome theme ideas to help you throw an EPIC Halloween party! (Ideas for kids and adults.)
-The Walking Dead Chase.
Send your friends their invites, assigning them the role of a survivor or a zombie and have them dress up as a character from the hit show or as a walker. Then meet at a park or in the woods and have the survivors try and avoid being caught by the walkers. If they are, smear them with fake blood and they too become a zombie and help chase down the remaining friends. There are plenty of tutorials on youtube of how you can make super realistic zombie makeup, and fake blood and latex can now be bought cheaply at places like Hobby craft.
Note: Just be careful not to go after any passer-by who isn’t in on the game as you may scare them half to death!
-A Masquerade Ball.
This party can be spooky and sexy! Adding a mask can add an air of mystery and intrigue to a party. If you can hire out a hall and decorate it with fairy lights and velvet drapes, get everyone to dress black tie you can create an incredible Venetian ball. You can add a sinister side by having ‘blood’ cocktails and haunting music. If everyone puts in a bit of effort this can be a really classy event if you’re sick and tired of the same old house party with supermarket costumes. Want to do more than just dance? This setting would work perfectly for a murder mystery party too.
-Making a Monster.
If your friends always flake on wearing a costume, this is a great solution. You can provide craft items to make costumes or masks, or provide face paint where you can challenge each other to create the most terrifying face on each other. This is also a fantastic idea for a kids party, or just add alcohol to make it a hilarious night for adults too. You can also tweak games like Pictionary and Rapido to draw and create popular monsters and villains for movies that your friends have to guess before the times up.
Don’t want to sit indoors this Halloween? Take a trip to the vast unknown by visiting a planetarium. Some of the best horror/sci-fi films involve space travel going horribly wrong, or a terrifying alien invasion. Standing in a pitch black dome, surrounded by vast solar systems and unexplored planets, you and your friends can experience an epic and frightening atmosphere that reminds us just how small we are. Again this is a great one for all ages as it’s educational as well, just make sure you finish the night off with an alien invasion party back home.
-Disney Villain’s Tea Party.
This is a great one for the child inside all of us. Which Disney villain scared you the most when you were young. Invite your friends to dress up as their favourite baddies then serve themed drinks and food whilst watching all of the movies and singing along to your villains song. This is a perfect party for those who love Halloween but are not exactly fans of the gore-filled horror films that you’re forced to watch every party!
-Theme Park Party.
There are many theme parks now-a-days that have Halloween special themed nights. If you are able to visit one with a group of friends this could be an awesome alternative to a house party. Give yourself a real scare this Halloween by riding huge roller coasters, visiting the haunted houses and getting lost in the maze. This one might cost a little more money that a traditional house party, but there are some great group discounts out of season available so check the website before you book to get the best deals and make a Halloween event to beat!
